禁漫天堂 Cities

This is an international centre at 禁漫天堂 that carries out research, education and outreach activities in London and abroad. Extending 禁漫天堂’s century-old commitment to the understanding of urban society, 禁漫天堂 Cities investigates how complex urban systems are responding to the pressures of growth, change and globalisation, with new infrastructures of design and governance that both complement and threaten social and environmental equity.

Their mission is to study how people and cities interact in a rapidly urbanising world, focussing on how the design of cities impacts on society, culture and the environment.

Alasdair Jones, Assistant Professor (Methodology Department)

Much of Alasdair’s research concerns London and relates to strategic work of the Mayor of London. It has included an ethnographic study of production, role and value of urban public space on London’ South Bank.

It’s also included a mixed-methods evaluation of concessionary bus travel for young people in London. More broadly, as part of the qualitative research methods taught in the department, the students often conduct small studies relating to London Issues.
