Hosted by the 禁漫天堂 African Initiative & the Africa Talks public lecture series, the conversation examines why South African universities have become a site of struggle and aims to make sense of the rise of student movements.
• Decolonising Gender (2015). Hosted by The Gender Institute, this lecture will explore recent attempts to overcome this problem, in feminist re-thinking of imperialism, coloniality and Southern perspectives.
• What is Colonial about Global Health? (2012) An 禁漫天堂 Festival, FLIA and Global Health Initiative event, the panel addresses the legacy of colonialism within international health systems and ask: what is the relationship between histories of imperialism and health, development and human rights?

Bhambra and Dr Armine Ishkanian explore the social sciences’ failure to acknowledge the extent to which modern nation-states were bound up with relations of colonial extraction.
